Project Type
Illustration
Date
March 2024

Create a “The New Yorker” magazine cover and two spot illustrations inspired by an online article, using your own style and scanned textures. Ensure consistency in drawing, line work, and textures. Spot illustrations should have a clear background and not touch the edge. Step-by-step techniques will be provided in class.
While searching for the most unique articles on the ‘Wired’ and ‘The New Yorker’ websites, I came across an article comparing piano keys to computer keyboards, highlighting the commonality that both require input to produce sound or text. Inspired by this, I designed a cover featuring a man typing and a background shaped like a computer keyboard. I used various textures from my own photography to ensure the magazine cover felt cohesive and seamless.
